Sailing Tasars across Queensland

ImageWelcome to the Tasar Association of Queensland (TAQ).  Regular fleets of Tasars sail across the state in clubs as listed below, from north to south:

If you are interested in sailing a Tasar in Queensland you are on the right track for tonnes of fun and thrilling sailing on some of the most spectacular waters in the country.

The TAQ is affiliated with Yachting Australia and actively participates in the development and support of the class by working closely with participating sailing clubs and Tasar sailors directly.

We offer a comprehensive sailing programme which is configured to suit the sailing interests of each district.  The range of events supported in the programme cater for a wide range of desires with state and regional championships, popular regattas, Tasar series and passage races.

Feature events in the current programme include the likes of:

  • Regattas in the North Queensland Tablelands (TSC);
  • The prestigious annual race around Dunk Island (MBSC);
  • Regattas in Keppel Bay overlooking Great Keppel Island (KBSC);
  • Sail Brisbane regatta (RQYS) being an ISAF Cat2 event;
  • South Queensland Tasar Series (RQYS) open to all Tasar sailors;
  • The Great Race which is a unique endurance 70 km passage race from the Gold Coast to Brisbane (SYC).

Tasar sailors are renowned for their sharing of skills, techniques, experience and tips and Queensland Tasar sailors are no exception.  This inherently lends itself to providing highly competitive racing with sociable and fun activities outside racing.
