Belmont Bethwaite Series & TT1 Report
Great to see a competitive fleet of 12 Tasars at Belmont for Traveler's Trophy 1 in conjunction with the Bethwaite Regatta. Considering that many of the regular crews that often attend these events were still waiting for their boats to arrive back from the UK, a fleet of 12 bodes well for the coming TT events. Best representation was from Port Macquarie with 4 entrants racing on both days.
Saturday's racing contributed to heat 1 of the TANSW Traveler's Trophy. Points from all 3 races were tallied to give the positions at the end of the day. Racing was held in shifty 10-12 knots of breeze generally from NE. Weather was fine and from our experience, the water was warm. Craig Hughes and Sophia Sapojinikova sailing 2887 EMC2 was the best performer with 2 first places and a 3rd after being one of many boats caught out by a big shift soon after the start of heat 3. 2532 Big Bang was 2nd followed by 900 Flembouyant.
Full results for day 1 and TT1 were: 2887, 2532, 900, 2904, 787, 2471(Parky), 2906, 778, 2868, 1014, 1974, 2484.
Eight crews stayed on for Sunday's 4 races to complete the Bethwaite regatta. Congratulations to Paul and Jade Robertson taking first place after 7 races. Second was 2532 Big Bang, with 787 Gone Feral 3rd.
Full results for the weekend of 7 races were: 900, 2532, 787, 2906, 778, 2887, 1974, 2484, 1014, 2904, 2471, 2868.
Thank you to all the crews that competed making it an enjoyable event.
